Detik Mengerik was built as a structure made from found iron pipes which are assembled to look-like tree roots spreading in a different directions. Inside, there are five points of micro sound sources composed from the sound of a ticking clock which is amplified and synthesized like cicadas sound. The iron structures are letting to rust over time.
This work talk about how human intervention coexists with nature nowadays. It emphasizes the similarity between manmade and natural sound, and experiments with it by composing the sound. By amplifying the daily micro sound, this work tries to point out how our surround sound ecosystem gradually changes which is intervented by human activity. It shows how big is human influence for the changes that happen to their environment, which indirectly determines how the next generation could perceive this environment.
